Monkeypod (Pithecolobium Samans) is one of the finest cabinet/furniture grade woods. Monkeypod crotch wood is recognized by experts as the most beautiful wood in the world. The species comes in amazing widths and thicknesses and is very similar to black walnut in terms of figure and character. A soft, workable wood with terrific properties, monkeypod is often used for artisan tables with a natural edge or wane.
