This is true Mahogany (scientific or latin name SWIETENIA MACROPHYLLA). This is NOT cheap african or phillipine mahogany with inferior properties. True MAHOGANY is found only in the new world--North, Central, and South America.

There are samples of Mahogany that are more than 500 years old in churches and the wood looks like it was cut yesterday. Mahogany is the wood that all other species are measured against and it always wins because of the incredible properties--stable, strong, durable, beautiful, resilient, etc.
